The Institute for International Research (IIR) is currently seeking corporate practitioners from within manufacturing/brands and retailers to speak at the 2009 Shopper Insights in Action Conference. Session proposals should be emailed to Amanda Powers no later than Friday, Dec. 12, 2008. (Only proposals from brands and retailers will be considered, for all other submissions please see sponsorship section below).  

About the Opportunity:Shopper Insights in Action has been deemed the most notable and comprehensive global shopper conference standing out at the hallmark event for the retail industry.

This past year was the biggest and best in its history with over 500 of the world’s leading manufacturers, retailers and industry thought-leaders taking part in a dynamic three day extravaganza of networking and educational sessions.  It is the most anticipated industry event of the year. Key information needed for your proposal is listed below.

The AudienceThe audience is filled mainly with brand marketers and brand researchers with titles such as: shopper marketing, merchandising, shopper insights, consumer insights, category management, trade promotions, market research, marketing activation, sales research, promotions and more.  In addition, the event attracts retailers, agencies and other key industry players such as data providers, consultants, research firms, etc.

Tips/Guidelines Due to the high volume of proposals we receive, not every submission is selected. We rely heavily on three components:

  1. Content matching interest of audience identified through research
  2. Compelling topic that showcases something new and exciting.  It must also how to take action and implement the findings.
  3. Speaker is able to provide details in the format of a case study or interactive session.   This event is about sharing with members of your industry, so the speaker must be willing to showcase the “how” details.

 Additional Details:

  • Sessions are 45-60 minutes in length inclusive of time for Q&A.
  • Commercialism and self-promotion are NOT permitted or tolerated.  If this happens, you will NOT be invited to return as a speaker.
  • Travel, lodging and other expenses are the responsibility of the speaker.
Submission Guidelines:For considerfation, the following must be submitted to apowers@iirusa.com by Friday, Dec. 12, 2008:
  • Proposed speaker names, job title and company name
  • Complete contact information for speaker including address, telephone and email
  • Title of Presentation (one line, benefit focused)
  • Short summary of content to be delivered (no more than 75 words), followed by 3 bullet points of what the audience will gain from your presentation (key audience takeaways)
  • High resolution JPEG head shot photo
  • Previous conference speaking opportunities for the last 3 years.
  • Short bio of speaker (50-75 words)
NOTE: If your proposal is selected, portions of this submission will be printed in the brochure Volunteer Your Retail Partner
